Save Big Money With International Roaming

Save Big Money With International Roaming

With all my travels and my constant need to stay online, I will now share with you how to save crazy money when you travel to another country using phone calls and internet data.

There was a time when I traveled to Europe and America, happily checking emails and websites using my iPhone and Blackberry. When I returned to my country, I was shocked to see a total bill of over $ 10,000! These were mostly for data usage i.e. internet usage! Absolutely shocked at what the bills were.

So here are some creative ways to save these ridiculous data roaming bills. Your local telco will charge you for the convenience of using your local phone but will you pay for it!

First make sure you have 2 phones.

Let me explain:

I used a BlackBerry all the time but Telcos always charges extra for using BlackBerry. The only advantage I’ve seen is using BlackBerry Messenger. Now you can communicate via Whatsapp, Blackberry and iPhone. Whatsapp 0.99 cents for iPhone and free for BlackBerry. You can download Whatsapp for iPhone from the App Store and go to the BlackBerry AppWorld. It should also be available in the store for Android phones, just search for it I’m not sure about Symbian and Windows Phone.

So it was cheaper to use an iPhone or even an Android phone for email and browsing (since you don’t have to pay for BIS BlackBerry Internet service) and realizing that the screens for reading documents and emails were big, I left the BlackBerry data plan. My BlackBerry is my main local phone without any data plan. I like to use it because the keyboard is sensitive and I can still write SMS faster with my BlackBerry than with my touchscreen iPhone. While I don’t encourage texting while driving, it’s faster and more efficient with a keyboard that you can actually feel and you don’t have to look. You can feel the keys and since it’s a QWERTY keyboard, I know where all the keys feel.

So I keep my BlackBerry as my flagship phone and I keep my iPhone as my travel phone. There are also more apps on the iPhone and much better for playing games!

Now here is the mystery. That privacy will save you thousands of dollars while you are in another country.

First, buy a local SIM card with voice and data, then stick it on your iPhone. Please make sure your phone can work anywhere in the world with any SIM card on any network.

Do not answer calls using your home phone. I usually call back using my new local SIM card on my iPhone, or I send them an SMS or text message. They can call my new local number or I can call them using the local SIM card on the phone.

Here’s the beauty of using an iPhone. With the current OS, you can set up your iPhone as a WiFi router and connect up to 5 devices! So your iPad, tablet and laptop, no problem !!

On Android phones, there is a WiFi router app in the Android Store, just find it.

When you use up all your credit, just top up. Very easy!

A very important part is left, and that is that not all prepaid SIM cards come in the required micro SIM format for the iPhone. No problem. You can either cut it with scissors or use a micro SIM cutter like here. Now, you want to get a prepaid SIM that contains voice and data so you can surf, send text as well as email and make calls. So there is no point in just getting a data plan.

It is also my opinion that mesothelioma cancer has an really long latency phase, which means that indication of the disease won’t emerge until 30 to 50 years after the original exposure to mesothelioma. Pleural mesothelioma, and that is the most common kind and has effects on the area around the lungs, might cause shortness of breath, chest pains, including a persistent coughing, which may produce coughing up our blood.
